Collections and their rules
Manual and automated collections, the rule editor and sorting.
Two kinds
Manual collections contain the products you add. Automated collections decide their members through rules such as “tag is sale” or “price below 50”. Members of an automated collection are shown in the app but cannot be changed by hand — Shopify would refuse or immediately undo it.
The rule editor
In the collection editor you edit an automated collection's conditions: tag, product type, vendor, price, category, metafields and more, with including and excluding conditions. Conditions the app cannot represent without loss stay read-only, so nothing is changed by accident.
Sort order
The sort order sets the order of products in the shop. “Manual” means the order you set in the Shopify admin; every other value sorts automatically.
